Energy Efficiency Center opened! The energy efficiency center was opened on 8th March 2022 at 10:30 with the online participation of T.C Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Honourable Fatih Dönmez.
The opening of YTU Energy Efficiency Center, one of the most important centers within our Central Research Laboratory, was held on March 8, 2022.
With the vision of creating a new generation YTU leading not only in education but also in R&D, the opening of the center, which was established to serve our country in a short time by planting the seeds of its formation, and to train Energy Efficiency Specialists that Turkey needs, was organized by the YTU IEEE Student Club. It was held by Fatih DÖNMEZ, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, who attended the RLC Days event via video conference.
Minister DÖNMEZ gave the following statements in his speech regarding the opening of the Energy Efficiency Center:
“The Energy Efficiency Center is a center established to raise awareness of students, engineers and technical personnel. With this center, pre-field, theory, practice and experimentation opportunities will be obtained. Our Ministry meticulously examines and concludes the applications to increase the number of such centers. Hopefully, the number of these centers will increase even more. I wholeheartedly believe that.”
“We have quite a lot of experience in clean energy technologies”
Speaking at the opening of the center, Yıldız Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer YILMAZ said, “Our university is also a pioneer in some fields. One of them is clean energy. We have a lot of experience in clean energy technologies. Our academics work in this field, and our students, student clubs and Technopark produce in this field. Today, we have turned the Yıldız Technical University Energy Efficiency Center, a first in the region, into a center approved by the Ministry. We will create an awareness here, provide some trainings and authorize companies that want to work in this field. In other words, we are actually turning into an authority, a guiding center. His academic background in this center; We are making it available to the industry.”
“Good luck to our country”
Noting that the center is based on energy efficiency, YILMAZ said, “The energy crisis in the world has made energy efficiency and the work done in the field of energy very efficient. In fact, politics will also be produced here. It has turned into a number of companies on a larger scale, formed by TEKNOPARK-related and incubation companies, where some technologies related to energy are discussed, and some technologies are developed. In fact, we will fund and support them with the fund we have established, and we will try to launch world-class companies. In fact, it should be considered as a part and focus of such an ecosystem. Good luck to our country," he said.
YTU Energy Efficiency Center
In today's world, where the importance of sustainable development is understood more and more and the efforts for energy efficiency are increasing, the Center, which was established within the scope of improving energy efficiency, preventing unconscious use and waste, reducing energy intensity both on the basis of sectors and at the macro level, provides engineers and other technical personnel if the Ministry deems it appropriate. It will enable them to obtain an Energy Manager Certificate. In addition, it is expected that the personnel needed for the most important processes and machines encountered in industrial facilities at the center receive theoretical and practical training, increasing the energy efficiency of the Turkish industry, training personnel specialized in reducing energy consumption and harmful environmental effects, and contributing to university-industry cooperation.
